Dear Friends,
As listmate Mike Logsdon briefly advised the other week, Worlds Records is closing down.

What a great loss to the jazz world (pun intended).
Worlds' proprietor, Ren Brown, is one of those few record retailers who knows what real jazz is.
From Irving Aaronson to Bob Zurke.
He and his team are prompt, efficient and friendly.
I started buying LPs from 'Worlds' way back when CDs were unknown.
And, in recent years, have been replacing them with CDs as I am running out of storage space.

[So too is Malcolm at Venerable Records, who a year or so back moved away from selling limited edition CDs to dealing in 78s, due to the competition in a dwindling jazz market.]
The private, specialist jazz labels including Jazz Oracle, Frog, Retrieval, Timeless and Document do sell direct, but there are a lot who do not.
How now will we find out about these smaller private company releases?
With Worlds it was simple, as most labels were available all under the one roof.
So, what are we dedicated collectors to do now?
Very kind regards,
Bill.
