                              Hi Folks,

First, a very happy belated birthday to my dear native country of Canada which celebrates on July 1st. I'm thinking about you! I will see you in September... see you when the summer's through.

I'm totally humbled and thrilled to be included in DOWNBEAT Magazine's 61st Annual Critics Poll as a "Rising Star" on trumpet. Holy smokes! The rest of the people on the list are friends and people I admire greatly. It's an honour to be included and gives me more motivation to practice. You can see the full list digital edition here : http://www.downbeat.com/digitaledition/2013/DB201308/single_page_view/60.html
The paper copies hit stands on July 16th.

                                               Let's make some music!

                              July 4th, 2-3:30 pm Bria's Hot Five
@ The Louis Armstrong House Museum
                              34-56 107th st Corona, Queens
I can't think of a better place to celebrate the good news and America's Birthday on July the 4th than at Louis Armstrong's own house! Yes, Pops is opening up his back yard to host a party with Red beans, WHITE rice and BLUE notes. Count me in! Band will include the ever festive Dalton Ridenhour on piano, Adrian Cunningham on reeds, Darrian Douglas on drums and Jared Engel on bass.

July 5th, 7 pm The Marty Napoleon Quartet
@Downtown Sounds Glen Echo, Long Island
Marty is one of three remaining members of Louis Armstrong's All Stars and one helluva piano player. We'll also have THE Bill Crow on bass (for you Jazz Anecdotes fans) and Ray Mosca on drums.

July 6th, 8 pm Chuck Redd Quartet
@ The MainStay Main St, Rock Hall MD

I'm making a road trip to Maryland with my favorite gal Nicki Parrott to play with the Redd brothers as well as the stunning vocalist Sharon Clark at this intimate venue. One night only!

July 3/10/17/31, 5:30 pm The Louis Armstrong Eternity Band
@ New York's Birdland Jazz Club

Led by David Ostwald on tuba this gig is now in its 14th year and showcases a revolving door of top talent playing hot jazz. This is the best place to catch me regularly so let me know when you're in town and come by!

July 21-26 in Port Townsend, WA Centrum Workshop

I'm coming West! I'm really looking forward to being on faculty for the first time here, meeting new people and sharing new experiences. I'll also be presenting a workshop called "Evolutionary Improvising" which breaks down the art of improvising in the same order it was created.
