Thanks Brian and Leon for the memory.
Oh my, yes! Doug Dobell's' certainly was 'a major part of jazz history' as
far as I am concerned. I think the first (probably my very first) LP (10") I
purchased there was the Vanguard recording of Vic Dickenson septet Vol 2.
And that recording was the first time I had ever heard Ruby Braff. Oh wow! -
(To quote the youngsters, which of course I was in those days).

The organiser Leon Parker has just launched a web funder for the forthcoming
exhibition celebrating the classic London (England) jazz shop Dobells.
This message is not designed to ask you for money (!) - merely to advise you
that the exhibition preparation is under way.
So if there's a chance of you being in London when it's on I suggest you get
along there.
This shop - like the Commodore in NY - was a major part of jazz history.

If you could spread forward the web link to those you think might be
interested in supporting and there will also be a non - internet funding
option which George Forster is co-ordinating.
