Hi Listmates,

I have to say that two of the earliest Britsh jazz band recordings I got
were the first two 10" LP by Colyer. One with Barber and the second one
with Bilk and Ed O'Donnell. I sorry, but I never really liked the
Barber/Colyer band - no passion and it didn't seem to swing (I was
comparing with Ory and Lewis). I thought the second band was a step in
the right direction, but his best band, I always thought, was the Ian
Wheeler plus Mac Duncan band with Colin Bowden on drums. I will admit
that they were a lot better in person than on many of their recordings,
but a lovely band.

Just an opinion while we are swapping opinions.

Cheers Mates,

Tony Pringle
