Hello John, I saw your posting on DJML. What trad jazz there is in KC is pretty much confined to activities promoted by KC Ragtime Revelry, The Gas light Grill, and the New Red Onion Jazz Babies. You may be interested in the latest message I sent out to KCRR members/fans (see below).

Welcome to Kansas City,
Jim

Kansas City Ragtime Revelry is happy to report that, by popular demand, the New Red Onion Jazz Babies are returning to play with Lynn Zimmer at the Gaslight Grill on October 1, November 5 and the first Monday of the following four months. There is no admission charge, Gaslight Grill’s full dinner menu will be available and bottles of wine will be half price.

In announcing the additional Jazz Babies’ performances, Gaslight Grill owner, Dick Hawk, stated that the two performances reuniting Lynn Zimmer and the Jazz Babies in August generated enthusiastic attendance. Many of those attending the August performances expressed their hope for more.

The Jazz Babies’ performances are in addition to performances by Lynn Zimmer and the Jazz Band at Gaslight Grill Wednesday through Sunday every week. Joining Lynn Zimmer on clarinet will be Barry Springer on cornet, Dan Strom on trombone, Walter Bryant on piano, Pete Kersten on banjo, Kent Rausch on drums and Paul Redabaugh on tuba.

Reservations can be made at 913-897-3540 or Gaslight Grill dot com.
