To the Discography Experts on the List:

Who was the banjo player (a studio musician probably) who played on Louis Armstrong's version of "Hello Dolly." The banjoist played the introduction to the song, which is now a standard opening for the tune, duplicated by many Dixieland banjoists over the years (myself included).

I use the tune as part of my "Music Through the Ages" program for Seniors, and as part of the program, I tell a bit about the history of the tunes I play. It would be interesting to relate who the banjoist was on this recording, and how an introduction to a pop song (probably improvised on the spot) has now become part of a Dixieland banjo player's tool kit.

I've tried to find the information on the internet, without success.
