Hi Ginny, Jim,
The Netherlans are hardly a "Mediteranean country," and yet people,
young and old, stroll on the street and sit (when weather permits) "at
an outdoor café in the afternoon in their
> finest clothes having a beer & a chat."  Not at al hours like in Spain or the Riviera, but certainly on warm weekends.  And they listen to music.  I have many times seen it in Breda (the south of the Netherlands), and a few times also in den Bos, Middleburg and even at the Enkhuisen Jazz Festival (even - because Ekhuizen is further north, and "really Dutch," i.e. - not predominantly Catholic).
