[Dixielandjazz] Dan Levinson's New Millennium All Stars - Sunday, June 24 and Monday, June 25

The recent resurgence of hot jazz and swing dancing has brought about an explosion
of talented young musicians. These new torch bearers of classic jazz can be seen
and heard in a burgeoning variety of bars and restaurants throughout New York City,
such as Mona's in the East Village and Radegast in Williamsburg. I've assembled a
group of these dedicated stalwarts for two upcoming events - the Hot Steamed Jazz
Festival in Essex, CT on Sunday, June 24 and a concert at the Bickford Theatre in
Morristown, NJ on Monday, June 25. For Monday's concert at the Bickford, we'll be
celebrating the music played by the Original Dixieland Jazz Band, the band known
for making the first jazz recordings (or "jass," as it was known then) 95 years ago
in 1917. I'm delighted to have Chicago-based cornetist Andy Schumm with us. Andy's
efforts to preserve and promote traditional jazz in the Midwest have placed him at
the forefront of a separate yet equally vibrant movement.
