Sad indeed!
Graeme Bell's 1947 tour very much spawned the jazz craze in
Czechoslovakia, and perhaps also in eastern Germany.  In the  liner
notes to some of my Czech records, as far as I can understand (I don't
understand every word in the Czech text) made in the 1970's, the
artists recorded attribute the beginning of their interest in jazz to
that tour!

I'll try to get it mentioned on our 88FM jazz programme, and ensure
that Bell is played at our next jazz evening next week (no jazz
evening this week - going to attend my eldest grandaughter's
graduation party today).
