Dear Bob and list mates,
I heard a radio man talking to Trummy Young and the radio man said to
Trummy " I notice that the band plays the same tunes a lot of times at your
concerts, Doesn`t that get "Boring"???
Trummy replied, " Have you ever stood beside Louis Armstrong" ??????
I think that says it All !!
Cheers , Ross Anderson,

> And with regard to improvising at concerts Louis said "When you get a
> good solo together, don't change it."
But, even when Louis played the same solo night after night, it was not like
a Classical musician trying to play the same solo every time he played it.
If you listen closely, you'll always hear subtle differences in his solos.
Perhaps some nights he was trying to add a little, or improve on it a
little. Other nights he might have felt different, thus playing the solo
slightly different.
There is nothing wrong with essentially playing the same solo each time you
play a song. After all, In Louis' case, how can you improve on the best?
