Joan.  Must have thought I was spam!  This is in answer to a private post to
me from Joan McGinnis, in case anyone has read this far.  Jim

Learning, all the way through school & into uni in Spain is that way.  I
teach, you listen!  Anything written back to a professor that wasn't his/her
exact words will be counted incorrect! 

My question is, then, where did some of the amazing Spanish free
thinkers/artists come from?
They must just burst out of the tightly closed fist from time to
time.........

Some of my kids interned in business here in Madrid, and they said any
meetings just went on & on with no decisions being made.  Probably all
waiting for the teacher to speak up & tell them what to do!   :>

By the way, my kids all went to an International school in Madrid where my
wife taught.  
42 nationalities, with English being used as the main language. None of that
controlled education you get here!

They all went to the U.K. or U.S. for their college degrees.  They are
fluent in both English & Spanish. Of my 5 kids we've got a school teacher, a
micro biologist, a worker's rights specialist, an investment banker & a
consultant...all working out of Spain (no jobs here!).
