Last Saturday, some friends and I went to hear Eli Preminger (trumpet)
and Nahum Perefrikovich (piano) at Piano BAr in Tel-Aviv. I must say
that out ot the 14-15 people there, most were my friends, which was
lucky because the Holy Lidylanders has some workshop and couldn't make
it (they filled the place the previos time, and since it is a small
place - some danced on the street).
It was like sitting in an old film - a small bar (the small audience
almost filleed it up), and one could just imagine two black musicians
playing after hours. True, this time Eli was not as good as he
usually is, andsometimes played wrong notes - but somehow it only
added to the surreal atmosphere.
They are scheduled to be there again on the 28th, and I am planning to
go if I can. On 2nd Augus I am planning to hear Swing de Gitanes on
the street in Natanya, braving the elements - the unbearable heat and
humidity (no, not as bad as Florida; here it's only the Purgatory0.
Cheers
