I totally agree with Larry & Dave here, Most people do not live in the Trad Jazz Zone 24 hours a day 7 days a week. They get out into the real world and embrace the differences and gain new experiences some of which are enjoyable, including other styles of music. There are still Only Two Kinds of Music. Good and Bad and no shortage really of either.

When you see so many musicians migrating back or to New Orleans it simply shows that the Preservation of the Music is alive and well, and they are interested in bringing it to new and larger audiences of today so that it will indeed be preserved for the future.

Will it ever return to it's Legendary Status and Levels? maybe not, but do not forget that most of the Great Nawlins musicians left to make more money and spread the music around the world to others anyway. Not to mention that many of them also were not born in New Orleans either. Gotta look through and beyond the HYPE, same as you do about Nashville being the Home of Country Music. Or Memphis being the Home of the Blues; Truth is there is little of it in either city.

Cheers,

They'er Breaking up that Old Gang of Mine !
