All I can say is Gawd, what a mess.
Maybe they were going for some sort of very heavy rock type sound? Elvis Costello’s influence rears its ugly head again.

I gather that you listened to the bit that I listened to on that link? I
can't believe that that was the proper mix. I wouldn't trust these formats
heard on the internet to necessarily be the proper way the recording was
mixed. I'd want to hear the marketed CD in proper listening conditions
before I would think that people at this level of the art of recording would
mix that guitar in so loudly. By any means, it wouldn't be the guy's amp!

I thought, generally, the voice didn't stand out well in the mix on that
link.
