Hello all

It's strange but true that Billy Wilder's 1964 comedy /Kiss me stupid/
contains three George and Ira Gershwin songs written for the movie. How
is this possible when George Gershwin died in 1937?

George was a consummate writer of melodies and left a small number
unpublished at his death. When Wilder was producing the movie he asked
Ira Gershwin to write words to some of these unpublished melodies and
the resulting songs are used to very good effect in the movie.

The songs are /I'm a poached egg/, /Sophia/ and /All the livelong day/
and all have a publication date of 1964.

All the best,
Anton
