Last weel I listened (yet again) to a Lake reissue of the Dirty Bopper's recordings from the mid-fifties. What a great musician he was! An excellent clarinet player, but his forte was the alto sax - to my ears, he sounds second only to Hodges (and yes, I have lots of recordings by Benny Carter spanning his entire career). Cheers
