> Your clarification reminds me of when I purchased the Butch Thompson King Oliver Centennial Band CD many years ago (hi Butch!), and was distinctly unpleased with how non-1923 Gennett it sounded.  (I grew out of that, so don't worry!)


Gee, Mike, I loved that recording from the first moment, and I love
the two videos of that band recorded at Ascona in two consecutive
years.  But then, both Charlie de Vore and Cuff Billet (the cornet
duo) have been long time favourites, and Thompson even more so.
