Anyone in the Philadelphia - Bethlehem -Allentown area who wants to be
among the college crowd digging OKOM at a nightclub, might want to be
here, Friday night. Get there about 8:45 PM to avoid the line to get
in outside. (Like at the Village Vanguard 60 years ago)

The Bookstore
336 Adams Street
Bethlehem PA 18015
610-867-1100

Music Starts at 9 PM and ends at 1 AM.

Music with Ben Mauger's Trio. Ben on trumpet, Tom Pontz on Piano and
Steve Barbone on Clarinet. Here are some recent reviews about this
small, but eclectic venue:

I would recommend you check it out, for the cocktails alone. The
bartenders are skilled & friendly. Once the music gets cranking,
though, the place fills up, so get there early if you just want to
enjoy a few cocktails before being swarmed by the college kids.
(Kelley H, from Bethlehem PA)

Well Kats and Kittens, this is the spot for me! Its wicked inside. My
retro look, I slipped right into the decor! The jazz music that
follows just brings my feet a tappin. (Shelly from Toronto Canada)

Fun, fancy, quite large 'speakeasy' in the heart of Bethlehem. The
first time I went we had reservations so... it worked out OK. (Still
had to wait to be seated with our party, apparently you can't just
walk in- and the wait was like 20 minutes, so that was a little
awkward.) Drinks were tasty!! The band was FANTASTIC! (Allison from
NYC)

Good food, drinks, and atmosphere. Music is awesome. A bit pricy... be
prepared. A must try for anyone visiting or living here. (Lauren from
Easton PA)

Quite a surprise for Bethlehem! Very nice cocktail bar with good food
and live jazz music. Atmosphere-wise: some kind of basement, fairly
dark room lightened mostly with candles and filled with books.

You should go for the music and the cocktails. Cocktails are pricey
for Lehigh valley ($12), Edouard from Pittsburgh PA)

The place has OKOM Thursday, Friday and Saturday Nights. I don 't play
here too often as it is 100 miles away. Usual band is a trio of 25
year old OKOM lovers led by Drew Nugent. Ben and Tom who are on this
gig, are older and frequently sub. I sub occasionally, putting up with
the drive and late hours (get home at 3:15 AM) because it is loads of
fun.

If you are still young at heart, and want to go to a club like you did
50 or 60 years ago, this is one neat place.

Cheers,
