Dear Jim:

Bixing, as used above refers originally to the many myths that persist
about the life and music of Bix Beiderbecke. It is used in a general
sense to describe myths that persist about anything.

When someone repeats or makes up "noxious quantities of hearsay,
romantic rumor, conjecture, tall stories, political correctness and
trace quantities of trash" that person is said to be "Bixing"

"Bixing", therefore, "may impair your ability to discern reality from
conjecture and truth from twaddle. Severe cases may be harmful to
mental health."

Author Malcolm Shaw contends, in short that "Myths, Lies and Political
Correctness in Jazz Research " is "BIXING"

For more information see his Bixing article at: http://www.rustbooks.com/articles/Bixing%202.pdf

And credit UK list member and excellent jazz musician Ken Mathieson
for leading us to the above article, this past January 9th.

Those of us in the USA are currently marveling at the amount of Bixing
that has leaked over into our political scene. Substitute "Political
Speech" for "Jazz Research" above. VBG.
