There was a story that Oscar Peterson told during one of his appearances on
Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz.

Ben Webster thought it was essential to know the lyrics to songs he was
playing and one time he came off of

the stage at the end of a set. Oscar asked him what was wrong and he
replied, "I forgot the lyric!"
