And in France they have a saying:
Oh those Jazz Fans they Love to be Bored :))

The Blues are much more popular in France in most places, however in all fairness,
they do like OKOM Jazz in some places better than the mainstream Jazz that all the Big
Jazz Promoters keep shoving off on them. If we want OKOJ to grow all Band leaders need to
keep knocking on those promoters doors every October when booking season starts and keep going back
till they open the door. Don't go in with the old attitude of salesmanship like:

" You wouldn't wanna buy a Dixieland band would you? no I didn't think so. !!! "
Educate them about the Music AGAIN many of them don;t even know what it is because they
grew up with Be Bop and Avante Gard music and Fusion Jazz, etc in school because many of the old guys on this list
quit teaching younger generations about it and passing it on in the Academic Systems decades ago. We need to start and continue teaching
this music in elementary schools Religiously to get kids exposed to it and liking it at an early age.

Too many Teachers in the system teaching others how to do what they have never done outside their classrooms and campuses,
and often too hell bent on getting the kids to play THEIR own compositions and arrangements of very often some really sucky music.

Too many John Coltrane wannabes, and Miles Davis wannabes, and they totally lost direction of Music that swings and has melodies
that all those people out there who know nothing about other good music because they have not been exposed to it.

The main reason Most people have no idea what GOOD Music is , is because too many people keep booking mediocre and or amateur
musicians and bands at events that do not play GOOD music in the opinions of many who do not come back to those venues or
festivals, thus driving the price or keeping the price down to 1940's era in admissions and musicians salaries. Ya get what ya pay for folks.
And it ain't always good.

Cheers, just my .02 cents worth.

Both are valid statements. Knowing this, an active musician can put that to
his own use. Show the people what good music is. Mix the good things up
with the showy ones, attracting the public to the music.

Once again, the "good music vs showy music", when it should be showy + good!
