I would guess that bawdy songs are only bawdy when the prevailing religion
has taboos on explicit sex references.
So I don't think the ancient greeks would have any problems with songs about
sex, and only societies with taboos would regard translations as bawdy. As
an example 'The Golden Ass' written by Lucius Apuleius early in the second
century A.D. is mostly read for all its "bawdy" scenes.
