[Dixielandjazz] US Visa Rules for Foreign Performers

 I have several times had Festivals booked, and waiting for contracts to arrive with travel expenses, and then been notified that the Government 
had forbidden them to bring us to their festival because of the name of the Band,   Saint Gabriel's Celestial Brass Band.  Places like Morrocco and Tunisia for examples.

One festival in Israel even changed our name to the "Ambassadors of New Orleans "   when we replaced the Preservation Hall Jazz Band
on the event.   We rolled with it and had a great time as did the audiences of 3000  & 4000 nightly.

Listmates and friends Steve Barbone and Bob Romans were on that show

Not really similar, Steve.

Of course, it depends on what "government support was
 withdrawn" means.  If financial support, it is one thing; if not -
it's a completely different story.
And such things happen all the time.  A few years ago, at the request
of the organizer of a Polish festival, I contacted an Israeli band
with the offer to particiapte in that festival.  But the long, largely
bureaucratic, hassle finally prevented the trip (by the time financing
was finally obtained and the Poles were ready to send an official
invitation, several members got much better offers and the whole thing
failed.
