Hello,
Just back from yet another lively performance of Swing de Gitanes,
this time - as part of a festival featuring various and sundry things
in private houses in Old Jaffa. Old Jaffa is mainly houses artists,
art galleries and restaurants. The group played in the patio of Mr.
and Mrs. Ori Abramson, a designer and a jazz fan, to an enthusiastic
albeit small crowd of about thirty (not that there was much room for
more - perhaps another five could have squeezed in. As usual, the
band played a nice mix of originals and standards. The audience
seemed to know most of the numbers played, and recognized the Django
Reinhardt standards (to them, like to most fans of Gypsy swing, it was
just "Django"). And what a pleasure to hear purely accoustic music
for a change! In short - money well spent!
Cheers
