Yes Steve, I remember his name, and his career - he was an Australian 
originally named Clarrie Collins, who toured Canada with the Commonwealth 
Brass Band, went to California and formed his own band, became Larry (maybe 
pronouncing Clarrie was too difficult for the natives in CA) and was there 
during the time Paul Whiteman was making THE KING OF JAZZ. When Whiteman's 
lead trombonist Boyce Cullen became ill, Collins replaced him until he 
recovered and is believed to either have appeared in the film or on the 
soundtrack.

In the early thirties he was in New York and is said to have coached 
Ellington's trombone section.
