Arbors' Mat Domber Battling Cancer

Mat Domber whose Arbors Records company has produced more than 300 jazz
recordings involving some 400 musicians over the past 22 years was diagnosed
with lung cancer that had spread to the brain in early June. He has since
been undergoing extensive treatments and is currently resting comfortably at
home under the watchful eye of his wife and partner Rachel.

Mat initially had 10 radiation treatments in 10 days to keep the disease
from spreading and as of mid-September, had four biweekly chemotherapy
sessions. He is reported to be in good spirits with a good appetite and is
able to work at home on his various business interests.

Arbors Records came into being in 1989 when Mat discovered Rick Fay had
never been recorded in his 40-year career. Others who have made their first
recording with Arbors include Rebecca Kilgore, John Allred, Joe Ascione,
Jon-Erik Kelso and Randy Reinhart. Dan Barrett is Arbors' most recorded
artist, having performed on more than 50 CDs, and was also Arbors' first
musical director. Others on the frequently-recorded list include Howard
Alden, Dick Hyman, Ed Metz Jr., Bucky Pizzarelli and Johnny Varro.

Mat who spends 80% of his time on jazz activities has also staged a dozen
jazz parties and promoted several jazz cruises. He has served on the Board
of the American Federation of Jazz Societies for the past 20 years and has
directed tours of the Statesmen of Jazz.

Well-wishers can email their thoughts to Mat at mrd at gate.net.
