Dear Rebecca,

Patrice Champarou is at present stucturing an index to the Red Hot Jazz
Archive, and I'm assisting him by doing a run-through of the archive. The
whole archive comprises 750 pages, so this task takes a while! When we've
arrived at a stable state we shall be going public. In the meantime we would
ask everyone to be patient. People using IBM-type PC's shouldn't have any
problem in playing most of the artists and tunes printed in yellow, and
these can be found by googling, e.g. using artist name and 'Red Hot Jazz
Archive' as keys. People with Macs will amost certainly have problems, but
these are being addressed by some Mac owners at the moment.

Somebody else is working anonymously on the archive, but we have not been
able to contact the person(s) responsible.

You say that you can play Armstrong and Jelly Roll. I should be very
interested to hear from you if you can play either of Jelly Roll's 'Cannon
Ball Blues', the second 'Chant' or any of the New Orleans Jazzmen recordings
other than "Ballin' The Jack' and 'I Thought I Heard ...', and likewise
Louis Armstrong's Hot Five recordings of 'He Likes It Slow', 'Ory's Creole
Trombone', and 'Two Deuces', or either of the two recordings with the
Polynesians

Kind Regards

Bob Smith
