[Dixielandjazz] Where are the young people?

Since I don't do clubs getting that young audience is limited to street
fairs or other free public events.

Personally I love to play for young people. When they are there they like
what we do but that's the trick. I find a lot of young people to be very
one sided in their likes and dislikes. Most wouldn't walk across the street
to hear us but if they are a captive audience they do enjoy us. The
captive audience is usually kids and grand lids of the seniors we play for
at some event or another. I've booked Easter Sunday and there will be kids
and their parents at that event.

Two years ago I played a mall on Saturdays. There were quite a few young
couples with small kids that brought them up to listen and see the
instruments. It was fun. I'm doing a gig with a friends band Saturday
afternoon and we will be playing OKOM. It's free and in a public park so
we'll see.
