As you would know, t was just a friendly shot at you (as we do) for relying on a 1975 source.

So do I.
However, I have a better quoted reference to:
   Down Beat, April 1938 (page 25). "A strictly "mickey mouse" band is still box office."
The 1998 Cassell Dictionary of Slang includes the following under Mickey Mouse:
   adj. [1930s+] (orig. US) second-rate, badly made, artificial (US Black) Mickey Mouse Music, commercialised jazz or pop music.
