Marc Myers has a daily blog called JazzWax.  Yesterday's blog 5-24-11
featured story about the pairing of accordionist whiz Tommy Gumina and Buddy
DeFranco.  Myers interviewed DeFranco, now age 88 and all the locals know
that he lives in Panama City, FL, as to how that pairing came about. (
DeFranco was reluctant but used him for a gig because pianist was not
readily available.) They hit it off and made five LPs on Polytone label,
none of which have yet made it to CD yet.  If you have one of these LPs,
it's valuable-see eBay for details and asking prices.

 

Nice story.  There's also a link to You Tube video.  One may subscribe to
Myers' daily offerings.  As you will see, there is an index to previous
postings.
