I find the list diverse and plentiful

sometimes when I reply the perception is not what I intended!

that said, there is so much wonderful info on this list, as well as chaf

I will take it because there are pearls here (And I am speaking as a scholar
as well as musician)
that I hope some academic is archiving the info here, it is invaluable

I agree with Bob Ringwald, as I'm sure everyone else does. You shouldn't
think about leaving the list over such a small thing.

Likes & dislikes are such a personal matter, that making strong statements
about a certain style will normally not go over well anywhere, so perhaps an
"I don't really like that" might be the best way to make a point.

You're right that this list is about Dixieland, but it is about all styles
of Dixieland. You may have joined when the banjoists were being vocal on
the list. At other times, it looks like everyone plays clarinet, as there
might be a long discussion about reeds! No big deal.

I personally like the more "fluid" style of Dixieland, but can appreciate Lu
Watters & all the West Coast style in general. In fact, we apply it to
certain songs we play as it works well...such as with Doctor Jazz. Then, a
lighter rhythm is used on something like Do You Know What It Means. (We use
piano, not banjo or guitar!)

That's what I so liked about the Dukes, was their ability to play banjo &
tuba, or swing with the two trombones & string bass.

It's all music, and it is good if it is played well.

Anyway, be sure to stick around, Steve.

Jim
