Dear Friends,
Although right up my alley, I'm busier than usual so will have to sit this thread out.
Unless it goes over another day or so.
Needless to say that I have all the washboard recordings mentioned.
And I agree with my dear mate Jack Mitchell regarding the Reynolds Brothers link.
[Except that the Wilton Crawley with Henry Allen and Jelly Roll Morton ("I'm Her Papa, She's My Mama/New Crawley Blues") WAS originally issued by Victor as Wilton Crawley And The Washboard Rhythm Kings, 'cos Bruce Johnson (the great 1930s 'washboardist') was on it.]
But I can't go without including an audio link to The Six Jolly Jesters and "Goin' Nuts", recorded on 29 October 1929 with Bruce Johnson (wbd) and Teddy Bunn (g) with Freddy Jenkins (t) and the Duke Ellington rhythm section. Listen to Johnson humming along with his wbd solo. (Something Ralph Sutton later did quite frequently.)

I literally wore out my 78 copy of this side back in the 1940s.
Very kind regards,
Bill.
