Jack Mitchell says "I has never heard of a Bruce Elder being involved in the 
Australian jazz scene. And I have dozens of scrapbooks in which I've 
collected jazz articles from newspapers since the forties, none of them 
written by any Elder"

That said, I'm aware of people coming out of the woodwork and claiming to 
have been important members of the jazz scene in days long gone. Strange 
that we didn't know of them at the time.
