Dear Steve and Marek,
When Mr Elder's name came up, I momentarily wondered if it was 'our' Bruce Elder.

He is well known and respected here from his writings and his many published reviews.
However, as a very active participant on the Australian jazz scene for 65 years, I have yet to meet Mr Elder. 
He is not part of it and, so far as I know, never has been.
What say Jack Mitchell?
You have been involved in Oz Jazz a few years longer than me.
A proper jazz elder.
