I'm only a researcher/discographer, so will keep out of the finer points within this thread.
Other than to say that I'm with Steve on this one.
However, regarding your comment:

No, but we do know what Jack Davies' Kentuckians sounded like when Pete Daily was a member of the orchestra.
The song, "Sick O' Licks", made for Gennett on 8 December 1930.
It's a competent dance band of the period in which Daily played tuba and cornet.
No solos unfortunately.
Daily plays the brass bass all through, until the last middle eight, where it drops out and he (if it is him) joins the trumpet player (Howard Casey) on cornet for the finale.
I have it on an Arcadia LP.
