I just came across your note (below) Needless to say, I'm a few
years behind the times. But, I thought I'd tell you that I was one
of the original Brunotes, a drummer, playing between 1951 and 1953.
Originally there were four of us -- Buzz McHee (tenor sax), John
Edgecombe (trumpet), Paul Dalton (piano), and me. I am moved to
write because I just now read Paul's obituarry iin the Brown Alumni
Monthly. He was an incredible keybpoard player who had a modest
career in music after leaving Brown. If you have any follow-up info
on the Brunotes, I'd be interested.

Add the Boll Weavels out of Univ. of Michigan. Had the late Frank Powers
on Clarinet, John Teachout, Doc Shanahan, others, some gone
some still with us. I add this because Michigan has been long called
the "Ivy League School of the Midwest," and if Purdue's Salty Dogs
count, then an this band should also. (Personally I think Michigan's
claim is bogus, but then I went to Michigan State along with Joan
Reynolds of the
Red Rose Jazz Band.)
