Hello all

The paucity of recordings by all girl bands, other than Ina Ray Hutton,
is not too surprising - the appeal of these performances was largely
visual, rather than aural.

But there is some of material now appearing on DVD - particularly the
Warner Bros sets. For example:

Phil Spitalny & his Musical Queens on /Vitaphone cavalcade of musical
comedy/ and Rita Rio & Her Orchestra on /Big band jazz and swing./

The stand-out is Frances Carroll & the Coquettes - yes that really is
the name of the band! Not only was Carroll gorgeous, the band could
really swing. They were helped, in no small measure, by a drummer named
Viola Smith who had a kit that Sonny Greer would admire and who could
give Gene Krupa a run for his money.

All the best,
Anton
