Speaking of Accordions...

Last Sunday I attended the monthly session of the San Francisco Accordion Club and had a great time! Much like OKOM societies there was a large contingent of "elders" but there were also a whole bunch of New Hipsters (as recently discussed on this list) and everybody had a great time. The music ranged from Ragtime to Modern Jazz, funny Blues from a Twin Cities pro, and some rocking Polkas and novelty music from The Babes of the Accordion. To cap the afternoon there was a screening of a new documentary about the history of the instrument that was quite well made! It may be an "only in San Francisco" sort of event - given the long history of the Piano Accordion in this city - but I thought it was a great event.
