Thank you all very much for the help so far! appreciate it a lot.
Pretty much as soon as i posted i thought hey, wouldn't it be great to
write about both bands?
I'm thinking of writing on things like
how both the ellington and whiteman bands helped to link between classical
and jazz, then how whiteman in particular made jazz more "accessable" to
the mainstream by orchestrating it, and bringing in instruments that
hadn't been seen in jazz up to that point.
obviously i'll need to do a lot of research as this will be my grad paper.
Any suggestions?
thank you very much for the help so far guys.
