I sincerely hope the copy I just bought was the 1 Millionth copy sold.
Can't wait for the Wynton Marsallis & Kenny G CD or God Forbid Wynton & Paul McCartney to come out, it will probably sell three million copies
and start a revolution in jazz recordings sales :))
Like them or not Musicians that have earned stardom in whatever genre of music they pursued Sell
Cds and if they now at a later point in their lives embrace Blues and Jazz so be it, Who the Hell are any of us to deny them that right, perhaps if more
of us on this list had traveled down the same paths as them there would be a much bigger audience for OKOM than what WE collectively have allowed it to dwindle to. Jazz once had Millions of Fans and Dancers, remember it was the Rock & Roll of the 20's, but called Razz ma tazz and Jazz. It created the Original Dirty Dancing, oops! Now who the Hell repressed it so badly that it almost died until a hip shaking young fellow named Elvis Presley got the young folks All Shook Up again and back out on the dance floors around the world ? But some of us still Love to Hate Rock & Roll. It is the music of the kids, that the OKOM set never properly educated about music in the schools decades ago giving them a real musical education and foundation upon which to build and acquire good musical tastes. The Rock & Roll Generation did the same thing so now we have RAP and Crap for the Kids. We have nobody to Blame but ourselves. In my opinion anyway.
They have the money, the means and a name big enough to convince many people to listen to Jazz & Blues
and buy product and attend sold out concerts to see and hear them. I doubt you will see any Jazz Festivals going broke
for inviting these kind of Real Star players to sell tickets so they can continue to hire local mediocre bands and operate jazz camps
to teach young folks how to grow up to play jazz with no possible way of every earning a living playing music. Especially Jazz.
Cheers.
Bart, the Old Fart who enjoys Good Music played by Good Musicians
