 Hi Ginny:  pretty safe to say that would be because the gals of those great audiences were dancers and hung out with men who were not afraid to have a good time,  but Serious Jazzers wanted them to al sit down be quite and listen and adore them  as Artiste' only.   They ran them away in droves never to return.

Sadly.

 



That clip can be a reminder that when it comes to broader audience appeal, it is still the gals that get the guys out to hear the music.
