I would like to add another name to the list of present day jazz
violinists - Nigel Kennedy. Actually he is a leading classical violinist who
originally became famous by speaking with a rough Cockney accent and wearing
safety pins in his nose and lips.

I have just heard a version of HONEYSUCKLE ROSE played by Nigel as an encore
at the end of a classical concert, accompanied by a trio from the orchestra.
It's great, not only the violin which leaves Grappelli and others for dead,
but the drummer knows what he is doing and and the bassist with a great
walking line would be more than welcome in any jazz group or big band.

My wife found it on a replay of last night's JAZZ UP LATE on the Australian
ABC radio FM station.

Best wishes
Jack Mitchell
