I don't remember exactly who it was, the British guitarist who was reminiscing
quite some time ago about the revival of the Grappelli career which involved the
great man starting to work again in a pianoless ensemble, with guitar(s) and
string bass.

I think there was even some mention of him playing at a folk festival
Steff frowned and looked sceptical until he appreciated what was being
suggested.

BEEZness? he exclaimed, coming to appreciate that nothing strange was being
suggested.

Yes, the guitar-persons said to him. He was instantly reassured.
He looked extremely frail in the wheelchair, but he delivered musically.

I also remember being astonished to see a poster showing Claude Williams with
dreadlocks, advertising a concert in Nuremberg in January 1997. And how
crestfallen I was that I was flying back to UK two days before the date. Red
Richards was on piano, aged 84 -- and Norris Turney was on saxophone and
sometime I'll find a copy of the recording made by that amazing band during the
tour.
