As the locals know, Longwood Gardens is an Internationally recognized
1100 acre arboretum that the DuPont family donated to Kennett Square
PA, about 100 years ago. Gorgeous place with several buildings and a
large performance space seating about 400 people. They produce about
250 events a year.
October 5 is "Senior Day" at the Gardens and Barbone Street was booked
to play an hour concert as part of the program.
Got a call this morning from the event director asking if we would do
a second show. Seems they have more than 30 bus loads of Senior
Citizens coming in at 40 per bus, for the event. And, of course there
will be others, seniors and younger who come in on their own. (They're
getting lots of phone call requests for info)
The director was amazed at how many of the CCRCs in the area are
sending busses and amazed at how many people asked if they would be
able to get in to hear Barbone Street.
Nice to hear that old folks like Barbone Street too. <grin> However,
if you are going to be there to see the gardens and us, please arrive
at the concert venue from 15 to 30 minutes in advance of our start
times as we expect SRO crowds at both concerts. That way you'll be
sure to get a seat. And BTW, the sound crew at Longwood is the best
sound crew we have ever worked with over the past 20 years.
Concerts are:
First Seating - Noon to 1 PM
Second Seating 2 to 3 PM
Longwood Gardens is just off Route US 1 near the junction of PA Route
52.
Cheers,
