How about those swinging records made in the 1930's and '40's by
Ambrose, Elizalde, Gonella, and so many others?  Benny Carter and his
"Highland Swing" (a humorous reference to the many Scotts in the BBC
Big Band of those days).  And one sould not forget George Chisholm,
Sid Phillips and his many small combinations, etc. etc.  And then,
there was Spike Hughes, who recorded not ONLY with his American band,
but made some excellent records with Britisah musicians.  And during
WWII, there were The Squadronnaires.
