Hi Marek,
I knew Ian slightly - not seen him for about 20 years. We did an album,
'October Song' with Wally Fawkes, Humph, Al Casey, Stan Greig and Jack
Fallon in 85. I turned up to take Al Casey to a gig. Wally asked if I
would like to play on some of the tracks in exchange for he and Ian
doing a gig for me at my club. Needless to say I jumped at the chance.

Skrim, I knew very well. I met him when we both played for Cy Laurie in
the 80s. We did a lot of things together when I lived in Essex. He and
his wife, Sally-Ann Worsfold, were acknowledged experts and jazz writers
who really knew their stuff.
The new decade has been so costly with the loss of so many importan
figures in British jazz.
