On a MCA LP of 1972, Bill Monroe (yes the father of bluegrass music)
recorded "Milenburg Joy" (sic). He probably heard it while living in Chicago
in the early 1930s after leaving the farm in Kentucky at age 18. But he did
remember the song title (well pretty close) Whether he visited jazz venues
during this time is doubtful, he worked hard in a factory in those days and
played some county music some nights. He did have some jazz and blues
feel in his mandolin style. His first musical contact was with a black blues
guitar player before learning the old time rural dance music genre.

Most jazz listeners will find this tune with bluegrass instruments to be quaint, at
best, but some will find it to be pleasant.

PS--If anyone really wants to hear it, I can email it to you (mp3).
