Hi Jim,
perhaps, as a professional you can explain to me why we ever were conned 
into using cd`s instead of  tape cassettes. Although I agree the cassette 
was not perfect it was reasonable quality, probably as good as a CD..It was 
miles easier to manipulate. Specific tracks were easily found by just using 
`fast forward`. Compilations tapes were made easily with nothing more than 
sellotape and a pair of scissors.With CD`s you need at least a computer and 
a program.  It is impossible to jog forward or back a few bars on a CD while 
it was a piece of cake on tape. Storage space  required was not signicantly 
more for cassette. Tapes sometimes got tangled but I think this was more a 
function of the cheapness of the production and the fact that they were 
probably handled roughly. Tape deteriorated but we are finding that CD`s 
don`t last forever as they were supposed to do  It seems to me that the 
public were shortchanged and the industry made a killing.
