I can't help Beth with her query re the San Francisco group, but it's worth 
a mention that there was a night club in Kings Cross, Sydney around the same 
time with the same name. It was very popular with American troops here on 
R&R leave from Vietnam.

The band made an LP (Camden CAMS-156) about March, 1970 - trombone, piano, 
two banjos, tuba and two vocalists.

The similarities make me wonder - was the Sydney venture sponsored or owned 
by the American gentleman who ran the American venues?
