Dear Jack,
I'm sorry you asked me to check that.
The reference in the Sangster book is to a Ben Webster/Art Tatum version of "Danny Boy".
Unfortunately, the only Tatum versions of this song are solos.
The recording John Sangster [mis]remembered was probably the one with Ben Webster and Oscar Peterson, recorded for Verve on 21 May 1953.
This may be the one Robert Calder recalls Humphrey Lyttelton playing on the BBC.
